Chapter 7: The Personal Warehouse

5 days ago

With just a thought, the warehouse appeared once more before his eyes. Su He thought, "I want to go in, I need to go in!" Then, everything went black. When he opened his eyes again, he was inside the warehouse.

Looking at the familiar scene, Su He felt his eyes well up with tears. He had gone from the resource-rich year of 2021 to the severely resource-deprived year of 1979, where even buying goods required ration coupons. He was genuinely bewildered. Despite his advanced knowledge, there was a saying that even a clever woman can't cook without rice!

Before him was a bedroom with a large two-meter-wide bed, a memory foam mattress, and a silk four-piece bedding set. Su He wanted to throw himself onto the bed and rest deeply. However, seeing the patches on his clothes and the dried clothes he hadn’t changed out of since coming out of the river, he gave up on the idea of resting.

He opened the wardrobe, and all the clothes he had bought in his previous life were still there! Cotton shirts, home pajamas, various suits—everything he could want.

"Too bad I'm not tall enough to wear these now!" Su He remarked wistfully. In his previous life, he had been 178 cm tall, but now he was only about 150 cm at this age.

"I don't know if it's because this body is late for growth spurt or if it's due to malnutrition. Hopefully, it's not a genetic issue; otherwise, I'd be laughed at!" The thought of being called a shorty made Su He feel like he wanted to die.

In his previous life, he was often teased about his height at school, and it felt terrible.

On the bedside table, there was an open piece of bread, half-eaten and already moldy. "Who knows how long it's been here. This can't be eaten!"

Su He walked out of the room, and next to it was a gym filled with fitness equipment.

He opened the door and turned on the light, then chuckled bitterly. "I forgot, even though I've traveled back in time and the warehouse came with me, it's a miracle. But the electricity..."

Then, seeing the bright light shining on him, he quickly turned it off and laughed out loud. "The power company wouldn't have traveled back in time to collect my electricity bill, right?" he joked to himself, closed the door, and moved to the study next door, which housed his computer and bookshelves.

Su He loved reading physical books, so he bought several cabinets worth of them, covering various subjects. Many were about technology and mechanics, his favorites. The warehouse covered a vast area of about 600 square meters, and the bedroom and gym took up very little space. Besides the bedroom and gym, the second floor only had a study, which alone was over 500 square meters.

{Is this really a warehouse at this point}

Su He had set up several bookshelves there, along with many desks filled with books, resembling a small library. His grandfather in his previous life was a learned man who always taught him that knowledge changes everything and that he should read more. In his younger days, Su He didn’t listen and struggled as a result. It wasn’t until his twenties that he realized the importance of striving forward. That’s why he bought so many books, and after making money, he bought this warehouse to store them all.

In addition to the books he already had, Su He frequently bought new ones, both related and unrelated to his field. Now, he thought he might have the most extensive collection of books in this era. "There must be over a hundred thousand books here! Even a university library might not have this many!"

{Nah!}

After closing the study door, Su He went downstairs. The first floor was his workshop, filled with various machines. For a while, Su He enjoyed making shoes and bought some shoemaking machines. There were also piles of raw materials for shoes, which fortunately didn’t spoil over time.

{What are you, Superman?}

He tidied up a bit to keep the place from looking messy, but he didn’t touch the other machines. "I'll find time to maintain these machines later," he thought, knowing they needed regular oiling to prevent deterioration.

The warehouse had a basement, which was its main area. Descending into the basement, the first thing he saw was a garage, about 20 square meters in size, housing Su He's car from his previous life—a Volkswagen. He wasn’t particularly fond of cars despite being skilled in car repairs. Next to it was an electric scooter he used when he didn't drive.

Opening a door nearby, Su He entered the main storage area, which covered about 600 square meters. Shelves filled with various materials occupied most of the space. There were materials for making shoes, such as natural leather for soles, bamboo, wood, and synthetic materials like rubber, plastic, and composite materials. For the uppers, there were canvases and various leathers like pigskin, cowhide, and snakeskin, as well as synthetic materials like PU leather. There were also various replacement parts for the machines, like screws and steel pipes.

Su He's target was a shelf near the garage, stocked with food items he had bought in a fit of revenge spending after learning of his incurable illness. There were all kinds of food, from raw materials to meats, grains like rice, flour, and sorghum, and plenty of snacks. He had several boxes of popular brands of milk candies, like White Rabbit and Golden Monkey, and lots of chocolate in various flavors.

Su He opened a box of chocolate, took out a piece, and ate it. "Hmm, liquor-filled chocolate, not bad!" Although he was too young to drink, the small amount of alcohol in the chocolate tasted good. The chocolate was slightly bitter but had a sweet aftertaste. {Should we report to authorities!?}

After looking around, Su He casually took a box of chocolate and a bag of White Rabbit milk candies, ate one, and commented, "The food here hasn't spoiled, which is strange! Hmm, this milk candy is too sweet!"

He checked the meat and found it hadn't gone bad, which was odd since the bread in the upstairs bedroom was moldy. "Oh well, if time travel and dimension travel is possible, what's a little anomaly like this?"

White Rabbit
