However, it was Leverianz who refused to take his eyes off the poisonous red flower.

Mirania, sensing his demeanor, tried to break the vial, but Malandor quickly caught it and shielded it with his hand.

She glared at him, then turned her gaze back to Leverianz, who looked dumbfounded.

“That’s the kind of reaction he wants from you. Malandor is the Duke of Discord, and what do you think his reason for offering this cursed object is?”

“This is too much, Mirania.”

Unlike Malandor, who resented being treated like a villain, Leverianz stared at her composedly.

“You’re saying you have something up your sleeve, aren’t you?”

“Of course.”

Nodding slightly, Mirania covered Leverianz’s still distracted gaze with her hand.

When her white, slender fingers rested on his frosty eyelids, he moaned at the warmth of her touch.

“Don’t look. Don’t be fooled by the idea of prolonging my life. It is a cursed thing that will most likely fail, and even if it does succeed, it will shorten your life and impose an unknown curse as punishment.”

Grecan remained silent. His fingers twitched at the hem of his shirt as if he were clutching something.

“This is not right. Why would you frighten a young lad?”

Malandor clicked his tongue.

The room had become somewhat untidy, but Leverianz focused on the sound of Mirania’s voice.

Her voice was gentle, if somewhat hoarse.

It had a strange magic that scratched his ears.

And her breathing, seemed to rise and fall, making it all the more intense.

All his senses were captivated.

Her warning took a distant second, but not unheeded.

‘I have heard of the Red Flower, but only briefly, from my grandmother.’

Even if Malandor had other plans, there was no doubt that they would help Mirania.

‘Otherwise, he wouldn’t have brought it out.’

The clan’s much-anticipated treasure has failed. To Leverianz, who was heartbroken, the red flower was an attractive object.

He carefully grasped Mirania’s hand.

Like white clay, his hands were clammy with moisture, and he slowly released them with a slight regret.

Mirania gave him a questioning look.

“I won’t do anything stupid.”

Leverianz glanced at Malandor, who was wearing a smirk, and at Grecan, who was staring blankly.

‘I want to save Mirania.’

That was his greatest goal.

Secondarily, he wanted it to be him, not Grecan and Malandor.

The former was pure desire, the latter a manly desire.

Even with that hope and desire, Leverianz found it hard to resist temptation.

The red flower Malandor laid on the table glowed red, as if it could guess what was on Leverianz’s mind.

‘Forget it.’

Leverianz snatched the vial, unscrewed the stopper, and popped it into his mouth before Mirania could say anything and her face went grim.

“I have explained it to you, and yet you are so foolish!”

Grecan focused on Leverianz’s reaction, and Malandor did the same.

Under all the attention, Leverianz breathed in slowly.

The scent of the solution flowed down his throat and stung his nostrils.

The scent was thick, as if a common floral scent had been concentrated a hundredfold. But the smell of death wrapped around the scent like a shell.

Leverianz grimaced, feeling as if he were in the presence of a rotting corpse.

Though his illness had forced him to toss and turn with Grecan in the witch castle, he was a noble blood of the bat people, and now he was their leader.

He hadn’t been favored with anything but the finest since he was a child, and the scent was more disgusting than eating a meat pie that had been left out all week and used as an afterthought.

‘So much for that.’

Forcing himself to look away, Leverianz studied the changes in his body.

Unlike the surrounding reactions, he was tense, but not worried.

The red flower may be cursed, but it’s still a prized possession.

He didn’t think the powerful leader of the Bat Clan could be harmed by a mere trinket.

Besides, his lifespan was just as long, if not longer, than the Great Witch’s.

His bold action was also fueled by the belief that giving Mirania a lifespan would not be enough to kill him immediately.

However, since he didn’t know what would happen after taking the red flower, he remained still, unable to take any action.

‘…What is it?’

I drank the red flower, but nothing happened.

His body felt fine, and he didn’t feel any change.

‘How could a flower harm him,’

Leverianz thought, but his eyes widened in suspicion as he prepared himself.

Part of him suspects that Malandor has pulled out a fake and taunted him, but the smell of decaying flesh and vile magic remains as vivid as ever.

Poof!

The red bloom that had traveled down his esophagus finally reached his stomach. His stomach turned in an instant.

Leverianz paled and clutched his chest. A wave of nausea rolled over him like a tidal wave.

His organs seemed to be twisting and rotting and reeking of foul odor.

Finally, unable to hold it in, Leverianz fell off his chair and vomited up everything in his stomach.

“Urgh!”

Because of the Principple, his body was temporarily perfect down to the last cell, so the only thing he vomited was red liquid.

Having been forced to vomit up the red flower, Leverianz’s complexion was pale as if he was about to die.

He had never felt such terrible pain in his life.

Even now, he could feel his stomach twisting.

Malandor clicked his tongue as if the solution on the floor was a waste.

“Oh, no. I didn’t think it would be like this, not even for a chief.”

The words pierced Leverianz’s ears, which were pained with self-loathing and bodily pain.

Jerking his head around, he glared at Malandor.

“What does that mean?”

Looking at his pensive face, he realized there was something Malandor hadn’t told him.

“Tell me. What are you hiding?”

Life was lost in his eyes.

Malandor glowered like a naughty child who had done something he knew was wrong.

But it wasn’t just Leverianz who was curious about the situation.

Grecan also stared at Malandor in silence.

His mouth agape, Malandor shrugged.

A stupid gesture.  The corners of Leverianz’s eyes rose.

“The Red Flower is the stuff of legend, did you think it would be so easy for someone like this to pull it off?”

“Cut to the chase, don’t get all high and mighty.”

“Phew, scary. I didn’t want to say anything I was about to say. But since everyone wants to know, I’ll tell you. The truth is, not everyone can use red flowers. There’s only one reason you can’t digest red flowers.”

Malandor extended his finger like a knife and pointed at Leverianz.
