What kind of minion would he get? It would be great if he got a minion that could carry him out of this classroom and back to his house right this second. His anticipation was building.

[1x summon. Cost: 1x summon scroll]

[10x summon. Cost: 9x summon scroll]

He only had one right now, which some might consider a waste because if he waited until he had nine summon scrolls, he could get one free. It would be great if he had nine right now, but he didn’t. He was too impatient to wait for nine summons scrolls. Who knew how long that would take?

He needed another minion right now, and that was the most important. As he often said: ‘the needs of today outweigh the needs of tomorrow.’

Just as he was about to press the summon button, the aggravating voice of Prof Ortez grated on his ears.

“Patrick, sit down.”

Well, he was getting tired of standing up in the hallway. Might as well go to my seat, Patty thought.

One of his classmates noticed him come at him with a distracted look—a perfect victim. He was the same guy who made fun of Patty for being a lazy bum who would be disappointed that a Teqx couldn’t do everything for him.

He hated the fact that Patty was able to coast through school without giving any effort while he was busting his whole body in school. He needed to teach him a lesson.

With Patty being distracted while walking and just staring at air as if he was crazy, he needed to learn to look at his feet and where he’s going.

He secretly extended his leg just enough so that Professor Wraitheborne and Patty won’t notice anything.

He literally had legs of steel that he gained from a Red Power Teqx. If the clumsy and flabby Patty walked right into his leg, he reckoned that Patty would make a complete 360 turn and land head first into the hardwood floors. He’ll surely eat dirt, he thought.

In preparation to be recruited with the Black Leg Karate Dojo that was renowned nationwide for its reputation for having its students gain legs that were so hard that it could be compared to diamonds, he destroyed his legs each day by kicking steel poles until his shins bled and his bones fractured.

He couldn’t wait to see Patty embarrass himself as he stumbled and fell like the idiot he was. He even bet to his seat mate that they would see a few teeth fly off his mouth.

And just as Patty was about to cross paths with his leg, Patty suddenly raised his leg up and avoided a direct collision.

How could Patty have seen that?

“Oh, I almost kicked your leg, Griff,” Patty said with a surprised look.

Griff was absolutely humiliated. He thought that Patty was being sarcastic. What he didn’t know was that Patty truthfully didn’t see Griff’s feet. He was too focused on the system screen in front of him.

But just before he crashed into Griff’s leg, he saw a notification from the system.

{Mission}

{Requirement}

Raise your legs high

{Reward}

30 Minion Growth Crystal

Patty didn't think twice and followed the mission requirement. It seemed the system knew exactly what to make him motivated; he was going to ignore it if the reward was another Yi Power.

Another reward of Minion Growth Crystal went a long way since he was just about to have another minion of his own. He would be an irresponsible master if he didn’t at least save a few crystals for his newly summoned minion.

After all, he read the book ‘what to expect when you’re expecting’ and ‘minion planning’. He should provide for his minions; he wasn’t a monster!

He wasn’t one of those people who had a minion too early and wasn’t ready enough to take care of it!

[Mission Completed]

[Rewards]

30 Minion Growth Crystal

Griff sneered as Patty walked past him. He felt that Patty was very lucky that he luckily avoided his leg. If he hadn’t, then his leg wasn’t the only thing that would be broken, but also his spirit.

After all, when he went into the gym, he measured his legs as having a whopping 15 strength! That meant that his leg was 15 times harder than a normal human. He was probably the only one in class to have legs that strong.

He would get back at Patty no matter what.

Patty ignored everything and looked at his stats to see how many Growth Crystals he had.

[Name: Patrick “Patty” Patterson]

[Energy: 90.4/100]

[Yi Power: 0]

[Credits: 1000]

[Ether: 50]

[Minion Growth Crystal: 65]

[Physique]

[Head: 23/100  -  +]

[Left Arm: 23/100  -  +]

[Right Arm: 23/100  -  +]

[Torso: 23/100  -  +]

[Left Leg: 23/100  -  +]

[RIght Leg: 23/100  -  +]

[Jobs]

[Cultivation: D-Class Tendora - 17 Yi/day]

Just as his excitement with the summoning peaked, he noticed something that he never really paid attention to. It was always in his stats and it always changed numbers, but he never really knew what those were for.

And as he walked he suddenly saw it change.

[Energy: 90.4/100]

Suddenly turned into;

[Energy: 90.3/100]

Huh? He didn’t understand what the energy was for and why it suddenly dropped down a point. The only thing he did was walk from the door to his seat. It was only a few steps away, probably a meter away or two.

What would even happen if his energy turned to zero? That was the most concerning part because if he didn’t know why the energy dropped down, then he wouldn’t be able to prevent it. Sure, it was still in the nineties, but what would happen if it dropped down into 0 the very next second?

Did the energy bar from the system correspond to his own energy? Like his stamina or something like that?

If that were true, then it would actually make sense. He would finally know why he was so tired yesterday and slept really early. If he remembered correctly, the energy level back then was in the low 20s.

“Patrick, how many times am I going to tell you to sit down? I’m about to tell the whole class about the Physicality Tests this week.”

The Professor talked enough about Teqx. He needed to get back to topic and warn his students about the upcoming competition and how important it was.

“The Physicality Tests is a grueling day of students going against students, geniuses pitted against geniuses, monsters eating monsters. It is where you get to show off your skills and talents to the guilds and groups we have invited from all over the country.”

The room was filled with excitement.

“The tests consist of—Patty, what did I tell you? Why are you walking over there?!”

While the rest of his students were getting excited and making plans on what to do in the Physicality Tests, Patty was busy walking back and forth like a lunatic. Why couldn’t he just sit still like he always did before? Only now did he become eager to walk on his own volition.

Patty couldn’t care less about the Physicality Tests right now. His eyes were glued on the energy bar in the system screen.

As he took a step, the energy level stayed the same.

[Energy: 90.3/100]

He took another step, and nothing changed. But when he took the next step, the energy level dropped a small increment.

[Energy: 90.2/100]

“Each of you have to participate in our designated sport,” the Professor said, but Patty was barely listening. He was busy figuring out the system.

The energy level doesn’t go down with just one step, but three? Patty didn’t understand, but when he looked at where he was now and where he came from, everything was clear.

The distance from here to there was exactly one meter. He knew that because the hardwood floor was made out of planks that were exactly one meter long.

That meant…his energy level goes down 0.1 points for every meter he walked?!

“Each one of you has to participate. Every. Single. One. Or else….”

Patty touched the Energy bar to see if he could glean any information from it. And luckily enough, just as he touched it, the screen changed to display these texts;

[Energy: 90.2/100]

[Energy Cost]

60 mins standing = 60 energy 60 mins sitting = 6 energy 1 meter walk = 0.1 energy 1 meter run = 1 energy

If he did the math correctly, then that meant that he could only stand for 100 minutes or sit for 1000 minutes. He could only walk for 1 kilometer or run 100 meters before his energy level completely turned to zero.

And what happens after it turns to zero?

“Patty, are you listening?”

“Huh?”

“As I said, you have to participate or else I will have to send you to…boot camp.”

No…not boot camp! It was a horrible place that copied the military ways of training a soldier. He would not survive even a second in that place. He would rather die.

“Heh…maybe they’ll find out why you’re so lazy in the complete body scan inspection,” the Professor joked. “Maybe they’ll find and remove that lazy bone of yours. Or whatever secret you have.”

That was bad. Who knew what the they would do if they found out about the system.

“What do I have to do again?”

The Professor smiled. “The 100 meter dash.”
