Unfortunately for Sidrain, who had been shouting those words, Iris’s idealistic desires faded away after only two weeks. Alongside Iris’s deteriorating magical abilities, Sidrain’s cherished moments turned to dust. All that remained was Iris’s excruciatingly painful transformation of her powers.

Iris endured three days of fever and the following three days of chills. Every member of the palace, including Vivian Raphin, did their best to save the queen. By that time, everyone in the palace knew that the essence of Rosemary was Iris Elaine, but it didn’t matter anymore. It was a matter of life and death. Iris would vomit continuously one day and suffer from rashes the next. Sidrain would offer his cold hands dipped in icy water to soothe her fever, and embrace her cold body during her chills. He would watch over her while she vomited and gently kiss her lips when the rashes appeared on her skin. When pus started to seep from her body, he would wipe it away and console her.

“I wish my lady would become a little uglier.”

In response to Sidrain’s words, Iris weakly smiled. She was afflicted with so many ailments that she could not even sit or eat.

“How about growing three horns?”

“Like the mischievous demons?”

Iris barely squeezed out her voice.

“Yes.”

“Will you also get rid of me?”

“I’ll kidnap you and keep you all to myself.”

As Sidrain said that, he wiped the pus off her face. Nonchalantly, he pressed his lips firmly against the pus-filled forehead.

“And I will make you my demon. Because you’re mine, I will hold you tight every day.”

Sidrain’s finger lightly tickled Iris’s side.

Iris laughed. But soon, she let out a groan and writhed in pain, curling up like a fetus.

Her suffering had begun again. Sidrain watched Iris’s agony with a grim face. The entity hadn’t even formed into a fetus yet, and the uterine cavity where the entity would grow hadn’t been formed either. How could she be in such agony already, starting with the distortion of her magical powers?

Just die.

Sidrain whispered a curse that he couldn’t bring himself to say out loud.

Instead of making Iris suffer so much, just let her die quietly inside.

The heartless curse of a man who hadn’t even accumulated enough negatives was fortunate or unfortunate—it couldn’t reach the entity. It was because the host was too powerful.

It was a chilly winter morning.

Vivian Raphin entered the Queen’s bedroom and was taken aback, stepping back in surprise. It was Iris Elaine. She unknowingly swallowed her dry saliva. She was like a walking volcano, fierce like lava, and filled with an overwhelming presence.

The boiling magic was once again felt. It was a feeling similar to when she was young and couldn’t control her magic, but this time it was much stronger and purer.

“Wow, Your Majesty the Queen?”

“Vivian, good morning.”

Queen Iris was greeted with a bright smile. Today, of all days, she woke up and sat with a refreshed face. And that face had changed a bit.

It’s difficult to explain. It wasn’t a drastic change in Rosemary’s face, but there was definitely a subtle difference in her features. It’s hard to say exactly how or where it changed.

“How is the entity today…?”

“It’s much better. I can’t walk yet, but it seems like the transformation of my magic powers is over.”

The transformation of her magic powers is over.

Vivian had actually been looking forward to Iris’s magic transformation. It was a rather mischievous anticipation, but well, what can you do? It wasn’t like she was cursing someone else; she was just quietly enjoying her own mischief.

Iris Elaine. Princess of the Mattop. Elaine’s Knight.

Those who study magic, never forget that name. Even if you get dementia and forget your own name, you won’t forget this name. It was almost like a curse. It appeared in countless papers; professors hammered it into your ears; and it even popped up on exam papers. And all this for a mere one-year age difference with Vivian? And to make matters worse, Iris was younger!

But the transformation of her magic powers is already over.

“Well, that’s good to hear. Shall I check for myself?”

“Please.”

Iris closed her eyes.

As Vivian watched Iris close her eyes, she felt her heart pounding. This was Iris Elaine. It made her heart pound even more than examining the queen. It felt like actually meeting a living hero.

“Um, I’m also from Mattop.”

Vivian found herself speaking cautiously without even realizing it. She couldn’t bear to stay silent and wanted to say something.

“Oh, really?”

“I’ve met you before, in Mattop.”
