Chapter 20: Trust me, I will help you kill An Wu Jiu.

“Do you know how to unlock handcuffs?” Shen Ti asked with skepticism. Most people don’t have this skill.

Wu You nodded and looked at An Wujiu, asking, “Should I?”

An Wujiu thought for a moment and replied, “If we don’t unlock them, one of us will break the rules tonight.”

If Shen Ti insisted on taking him to Room 7, it would be troublesome. His energy bar was already at half, and if he lost half of it due to breaking the rules, it might be reduced to zero.

“Unlock them.” Shen Ti shrugged. “These handcuffs are hurting my wrists, and I was just wondering about what to do tonight.”

Wu You didn’t say much and held An Wujiu’s wrist to inspect the style of the handcuffs. Then he took out a paperclip from the cuff of his jacket, straightened the bent end, inserted it into the keyhole, and applied a bit of pressure with his thumb to turn it.

After a while, An Wujiu heard a faint clicking sound, which was the sound of the metal locking mechanism popping open.

“Good thing it’s not double-locked.” Wu You said as he opened the ratchet and unlocked the handcuffs.

So proficient?

“What about mine?” Shen Ti also extended his hands, as if afraid that he wouldn’t be released.

Wu You muttered something quietly, then unlocked Shen Ti’s handcuffs as well before handing the pair back to An Wujiu. “If you redeem these, you can open the panel and put them in your storage area.”

“Thank you.” An Wujiu put away the handcuffs and prepared to leave. Wu You grabbed his sleeve before he could go. “I need to talk to you privately.”

Shen Ti glanced at Wu You’s hand and then pretended to yawn tiredly. “I’m going back to the rest area to catch some sleep.”

It wasn’t until Shen Ti’s figure disappeared at the entrance of the corridor that An Wujiu opened the door to the music room again and brought Wu You inside.

“You’ve changed back.” Wu You said softly.

Wu You hadn’t noticed at the round table, but An Wujiu didn’t hide his current state when they unlocked the handcuffs just now.

“Yeah.”

“Do you still remember our plan?”

An Wujiu nodded and said lightly, “Of course, I remember everything I’ve done.” Then he lowered his gaze and asked Wu You, “Tell me about the duel with Liu Chengwei; what exactly happened?”

Wu You recounted the events truthfully, omitting many details. “The first round was initiated by me, and now my health bar is higher than his, but Yang Ming insisted on Ueno going up as well. Liu Chengwei had almost no room to fight back, and it ended quickly. The second round was the same, and in the third round, it was initiated by Ueno, and then I left.”

An Wujiu furrowed his brows slightly. “Ueno initiated it?”

“Yeah,” Wu You explained, “Because when the second round ended, Liu Chengwei suddenly activated his skill and took away all of Ueno’s supplies. I don’t know why.”

Upon hearing this, An Wujiu’s brow slowly relaxed, and he fell silent.

The music room fell silent for a moment, and then Wu You cautiously asked, “So… should we continue with the plan?”

He wasn’t sure because the An Wujiu who had devised the plan with him didn’t have any boundaries and didn’t even care about winning; he just wanted to manipulate people’s minds and seek revenge.

But now?

At this moment, he seemed to be the same person as before, hoping that everyone could survive together.

An Wujiu remained silent for a minute.

Finally, he extended a finger and pressed a black key on the piano.

“Continue.”

“But… I’ve run out of supplies,” Wu You said softly. “I’ve used them all.”

He pressed down on a white key gently again.

“You’ll have more soon.”

Shen Ti speculated about the relationship between Wu You and An Wujiu as he walked.

He had witnessed scenes of Wu You actively trying to get on Yang Ming’s good side, so was he now seeking reconciliation with An Wujiu?

It was already the third day, and no one on the field had claimed that their red and black lines had been tampered with. In such a situation, there were only two possibilities. Either An Wujiu was being cautious and hadn’t used his ability yet, waiting to find the most advantageous person to swap lines with, or he had already swapped lines and formed an alliance with the person he swapped with, which was why they were keeping silent.

Shen Ti was lost in thought.

Among the few remaining people, everyone had their own secrets, and no one would take the initiative to expose their red and black lines to another person. After all, this was a matter of a cursed relationship. Once it was revealed, hostility would form.

There was only one person who would be willing to switch lines with An Wujiu as soon as possible, even under these circumstances.

In other words, he hoped An Wujiu could change the line for him.

That was Wu You, who cursed Yang Ming.

The exchange must happen on the first day, or else certain death awaits.

In the dark corridor, Shen Ti leaned against the wall and chuckled softly. The angel lamp emitted a creamy yellow light, illuminating the way ahead.

It turned out this spy… had two faces.

When he returned to the lounge corridor, Shen Ti saw Yang Ming standing with his hands behind his back in front of Room 7. He also heard Shen Ti’s footsteps and turned his head.

“What a coincidence, I was waiting for you.”

Shen Ti didn’t respond; he just raised an eyebrow and walked to the other end of the lounge corridor to the reading room.

This could be considered a gesture of “I’m willing to listen,” and Yang Ming followed. The reading room was very quiet, and Shen Ti sat down on the sofa. “You want to cooperate with me?”

“As expected of a smart person,” Yang Ming sat down across from him. “I’ll keep it short. As long as you agree to form an alliance, after this round ends, I’ll give you one-third of the points as a reward.”

Shen Ti stared at him with a faint smile on his face that was difficult to decipher.

Yang Ming guessed that he might find the offer too little and immediately said, “Half? How about that?”

Upon hearing his words, Shen Ti chuckled lightly. His tone was cheerful, and he touched the small piece of red coral that swayed slightly beneath his ear.

“If I couldn’t make it to the end, let alone half, I wouldn’t even get a penny.”

It was clear that this simple lure tactic wouldn’t work on Shen Ti.

“I can promise you that I’ll eliminate all the top scorers, guaranteeing that you can easily enter the top four.” Perhaps influenced by his real-life profession, Yang Ming made these negotiation offers easily; after all, his job was to extract money from clients’ pockets.

But Shen Ti was different, and Yang Ming knew it.

“Your best option for a partner right now is only me.”

Shen Ti suddenly seemed more interested, and his captivating green eyes sparkled. “Is that so?”

Yang Ming leaned closer, his voice low and husky. “If I’m not mistaken, your black line is An Wujiu.”

Shen Ti didn’t show any surprise on his face and instead raised an eyebrow. “Go on.”

Yang Ming was obviously quite unhappy with Shen Ti’s attitude, especially since he had maintained a significant advantage for two full days, only to have one of his chips turn into a traitor and a red-line traitor at that. Fortunately, it was only two points, not a big loss.

He still needed a high-health backup weapon.

“I’ve never been able to figure out your red and black lines because you’re too unpredictable. Even now, I don’t know what your strategy is or if you even want to win. But with only eight people in total, I can narrow it down to some extent.”

He admitted, “I’ve already figured out Liu Chengwei’s, Ueno Taisei’s, and Wu You’s black lines. They are, respectively, you, me, and Liu Chengwei. The remaining options… An Wujiu can’t curse himself, and of course, I know I’m not the one who cursed him.”

“Lao Yu is just too obvious; his red line is likely An Wujiu, so his black line can’t be him. That leaves you and Zhong Yirou, and even Zhong Yirou helped An Wujiu stitch up his wounds. Even if she’s pretending to be a good person, it’s time for her true colors to show.”

He laid out the results he had deduced through intelligence and then looked at Shen Ti.

“Correct,” Shen Ti was more straightforward than Yang Ming had imagined.

“My black line is indeed An Wujiu.”

Yang Ming’s face lit up with pleasure. “In that case, cooperating with you is the best choice. An Wujiu has to die, or you won’t even get those four points.”

“Trust me, I’ll help you kill An Wujiu.”

“That makes sense,” Shen Ti cracked his knuckles. “I can cooperate, but I have one condition.”

He smiled and continued, “I don’t need the points reward for this round. I want the points from the previous round, all of them.”

“Since your reward for this round will definitely be higher than the previous one, you won’t lose out.”

After some contemplation, Yang Ming eventually agreed.

Lao Yu wouldn’t join his side, and Zhong Yirou was even more unlikely to. Without Shen Ti as a weapon, he would definitely be at a disadvantage in duels and wouldn’t be able to control the others.

They signed a contract, and Yang Ming, being shrewd, made it clear that Shen Ti had to unconditionally follow his demands in duels until the moment the sacred music ended on the morning of the fifth day. By then, the points would automatically be transferred to Shen Ti.

After the negotiation ended, Shen Ti claimed he was tired and promptly fell asleep on the couch, with his long legs resting awkwardly over the armrest in an unusual position as he quickly drifted off.

Yang Ming had no choice but to leave on his own.

He entered the lounge and saw the others gathered at the duel threshold, not for a duel but to discuss Liu Chengwei’s body.

“His energy bar above his head has turned gray.” Wu You said.

“What should we do with the body?” Lao Yu glanced at the others. “Put it back in his room?”

Zhong Yirou shook her head, her hands touching her arms as if she had goosebumps all over. “No, I have to sleep in my room tonight. It’s too scary.”

An Wujiu leaned against the wall, staring at Liu Chengwei’s body on the duel threshold. The crimson light curtain made his death even more horrifying, but An Wujiu couldn’t help feeling like this person might suddenly come back to life, jump up, curse him, grab his collar, and spit in his face.

But he was dead, killed in the internal conflict.

“Will his body disappear from the game?” An Wujiu asked.

“Um…” Zhong Yirou thought for a moment. “Generally, it won’t. In all the games I’ve participated in before, the dead person remains the same as if they had died in real life. The process of the body decomposing is the same; it doesn’t disappear out of thin air. That’s why it’s scary.”

Wu You muttered quietly, “Aren’t you a doctor?”

“I’m just a small cybernetic doctor; I’m not a forensic expert!”

Unable to come to a consensus, they left Liu Chengwei’s body in the corner of the duel room. An Wujiu turned his head and saw Yang Ming standing at the door.

He raised his chin slightly and said to the people in the duel room, “Isn’t it just a body?”

“How should we divide Liu Chengwei’s leftover supplies? Shouldn’t we discuss it?” Yang Ming directly exposed what everyone was thinking but hesitated to say. He then turned and walked towards the storage room. After Liu Chengwei’s death, all his supplies were automatically placed in the storage room, including the items he had plundered from Ueno during the duel intervals.

Hearing the mention of supplies, Ueno reflexively followed Yang Ming to the storage room.

On the top shelf where Liu Chengwei always stored his items, they did find supplies: bread, water, and medicine. Liu Chengwei’s ability allowed him to directly plunder other people’s supplies, tagging them with his own label and automatically storing them.

“This is mine! He stole mine!” Ueno suddenly reached up, but found that he couldn’t pick up any of his own supplies!

He sat down abruptly on the floor, his pale lips trembling slightly.

With no supplies, what difference did it make even if he had the ability to replicate them?

After replicating them, he would still have nothing…

Wait a minute. Yang Ming frowned.

According to the rules, the belongings of the deceased were considered public assets.

Why couldn’t they pick them up?

He reached out to try as well but found it was indeed impossible.

What was going on?

“I’m sorry, let me take this.”

An Wujiu’s voice came from behind Yang Ming, sending an inexplicable chill down his spine.

Yang Ming watched as An Wujiu reached out and took a piece of bread from the top shelf.

The bread had a label on it—An Wujiu’s.
