[Wake up! Why are you sleeping so much today?]

Eryngium pulled Sylvia’s hair mercilessly to wake her up. Outside the tent, the continuous sound of footsteps circled, worrying about Felix and Sylvia who hadn’t woken up yet.

Yet, Felix couldn’t wake up. Normally, he would have sensed any presence and woken up immediately, so now there was growing concern.

[Felix, wake up!]

Clover joined in trying to wake the two of them. Daisy, Poppy, and Asta also joined in. Finally, Sylvia yawned widely as she sluggishly opened her eyes.

“Umm… why are you all making so much noise?”

[Sylvia! Wake up!]

Eryngium, delighted to see her turquoise eyes looking at the fairy, flew up to her face.

[We’re hungry!]

Eryngium, along with Daisy, Clover, Poppy, and Asta, who sat on her, whined. Sylvia smiled at the cute gestures of the fairies.

“Okay.”

As she tried to get out of bed, Felix grabbed her wrist. He was already awake and looking at her, then proceeded to flick away the fairies, starting with Eryngium.

[Aah! What the!]

[Felix?]

[Asta hurts!]

[Felix, why?]

[Ouch!]

“What’s wrong with you?”

Sylvia asked, widening her eyes in surprise. Felix lowered his eyes and slowly rolled up her sleeve with his thumb. Following his gaze, Sylvia’s eyes widened in shock.

The tattoo she had etched was revealed in full under the sunlight. Felix lifted his eyes to meet Sylvia’s and asked,

“Why did you tattoo a magic circle on your body?”

Sylvia was taken aback, opening her mouth slightly in surprise before quickly thinking.

‘Was there a tattoo here too? It doesn’t seem like there was one before… How should I explain this?’

While Sylvia was lost in thought, Felix was examining the magic circles engraved on her exposed pale skin. The stark whiteness of her skin appeared very soft. The contrast between her pale skin and the black magic circles was strangely harmonious.

Feeling an odd sense of appreciation, Felix slowly blinked his eyes. He gently rubbed the skin that appeared beneath his rolled-up sleeve with his thumb, as if tracing over the magic circle, curiosity piqued.

Sylvia and Felix were essentially the same in terms of magical power. The magic used by Felix, who was of Black Dragon lineage, and the magic used by Sylvia had the same foundation. Of course, they each had their own unique magical powers, but the story changed when the magic of the Black Dragon was integrated.

The magic of the Black Dragon was different in dimension from the magic of wizards possessing other elements. The reason he had not shown his true abilities was to keep the royal family’s specialty and secret hidden.

The secret was that the Black Dragon’s magic could utilize all other elemental magics. Felix could do it, and Sylvia was already manipulating various elements.

Felix sent his magic into a minor water magic circle engraved on her arm. The magic momentarily scattered golden afterimages before entering the magic circle. A thin stream of water forcefully spurted into the air.

The fairies flying around hastily dodged.

“Ha-ha!”

Felix found it incredibly amusing. His hypothesis had been correct. His curious black eyes twinkled. Sylvia watched Felix, who was sending magic into other magic circles, with a dumbfounded expression.

It was absurd.

Her lips twitched slightly.

“What are you doing now?”

Her voice, tinged with astonishment, caught Felix’s ear. His lips, which had been smiling, now tightly closed.

“I was just curious all of a sudden.”

And then he belatedly realized. He had not thought that Sylvia would take offense. He glanced down, murmuring,

“But, I really didn’t expect the magic to actually activate…”

Sylvia glared at him with a genuinely incredulous expression.

“What, am I your ring?”

Despite hearing her voice steeped in anger, Felix merely glanced at her, barely concealing his smiles. The notion was amusing.

A ring, of all things.

He chuckled, his face the epitome of innocence.

The fairies watched him, sprawled across the bed laughing with one arm tucked under his head, with curious expressions. Among them, Daisy looked on with a mixture of regret and overwhelming emotion.

Sylvia, captivated by his carefree smile, could only watch him with a dazed expression. After a moment, she blushed and abruptly sat up in bed.

She brushed off Felix’s hand, which was still holding hers, with an irritated gesture.

“Forget it! I should make something to eat!”

Grumbling, Sylvia washed herself with water and wind magic. She then fried a whole egg, prepared rice, stir-fried finely chopped beef, cooked zucchini, and made bean sprout salad.

She took out the radish salad she had made before, dumped all the prepared ingredients onto the rice, and mixed everything thoroughly with wind magic. She added a bit of vinegar and soy sauce, a generous amount of sesame oil, and sesame seeds.

The more she smelled the nutty aroma, the hungrier she felt.

“I didn’t even eat yesterday, did I?”

She suddenly remembered the events of the previous day and gritted her teeth.

“Why do demon beasts have to look like that? Ugh, really! I hate it so much.”

Remembering the demon beast that resembled a cockroach she had encountered, Sylvia shivered with disgust. The thought made her angry. She expressed her anger by vigorously mixing the bibimbap.

She took out a cucumber, sliced it thinly with wind magic, sprinkled some salt, and turned it into a cold soup. She seasoned the cold soup with just garlic, green onions, and salt, making it refreshing and cool. She sprinkled sesame seeds on it and chilled it with ice magic.

Felix, watching Sylvia use various magics so freely, smiled naturally.

The intense morning sunlight softly filtered through the tent, filling the air with warmth. Fairies flew around her cheerfully.

Hubert paced back and forth in front of his lord’s tent. Normally, by this time, his lord would have already woken up and come outside, so Hubert was both worried and curious about the absence. He pondered whether to call out and wake him when suddenly, laughter was heard. The source of the refreshing laughter was none other than his lord.

As the time Felix spent with Sylvia increased, the rare smiles on Felix’s face grew more frequent.

But to laugh out loud like this…

Contrary to his bewildered state of mind, Hubert’s face brightened. Without realizing it, he took hesitant steps forward to hear his lord’s laughter more closely.

A line formed next to Hubert, who was not so covertly eavesdropping by the entrance of the tent. Felix’s laughter wasn’t heard by Hubert alone. The entire Croban mercenary band lined up, pressing their ears against the tent.

Then, from inside the tent, Sylvia snapped at Felix.

Felix had been watching Sylvia cook and had walked over to send magic into the magic circle tattoo again. When Sylvia’s magic combined with Felix’s, the low-level magic circle became something more.

A massive amount of mixed rice started spinning like a whirlwind. The grains of rice were scattered, and the inner ingredients were crushed to a mashed state. Even though Sylvia glared with annoyance, Felix merely let out giggles.

It was as if a hidden bundle of laughter had burst open.

Turning around to face Felix directly, she crossed her arms and lifted her chin, still letting out snickers at him in a grim manner.

“Stop smirking.”

The sharp look she gave him, far from intimidating, was only adorable.

Felix remembered Sylvia swinging wildly at him yesterday and chuckled again. It was odd even to him to keep laughing, but well…

He just felt good. So, he carelessly spoke his mind.

“You’re incredibly cute.”

With a smile as sweet and soft as melting cream, Felix reached out his hand. Some of the whirlwind-spun mixed rice had stuck to Sylvia’s hair.

Felix picked the mixed rice from her teal hair and casually placed it in his mouth.

Embarrassed by the sequence of events, Sylvia hopped in irritation. Then, she moved the mixed rice to a large wooden bowl and carried it towards the tent entrance.

Her face, already flushed to the tips of her ears, brushed aside the tent’s entrance cloth with a swift motion. The fluttering cloth hit Hubert’s face, who was standing right in front.

Slap!

The sound of the impact echoed.

“Ah…”

The oddly unpleasant contact made Hubert’s face turn a fiery red. Watching this, Dennis, standing nearby, fell over laughing.

“Oh! I’m so sorry! I didn’t realize you were standing there.”

Her face, already red, turned even redder, more so than a ripe strawberry.

“No, it’s my fault. I was standing too close.”

Hubert covered his face with one hand and waved the other dismissively as he responded.

“Ahahahahaha!”

Dennis found the usually poised and dignified Hubert’s embarrassed state hilariously funny.

“What’s all this noise about?”

Felix joined in, following her out, and the area around the tent became bustling. In this atmosphere, there was only one thing Sylvia could say.

“Let’s eat breakfast!”

“Yeah!”

As if they had been waiting, the Croban mercenaries answered loudly. Hurrying to set up the table, they moved in sync with her.
